Imagination Matters
18" X 18"
July, 2005

The second in my series Not Just Grey Matter, Imagination Matters is my rendition of creativity. It is a likeness of my brain, taken from a recent MRI. I'm not just a patient on the table, waiting to learn about changes in my condition, but a creative soul who just loves to have fun.

With so many ideas waiting to hatch, how can a machine possibly pick up all that is going on in there?

Ann, I love the tiny eggs of creativity waiting to hatch in your brain! What a clever idea, and great execution.

How interesting! Taking a diagnostic tool and creating beauty. I love the quilting in the brain and the idea for the series "Not Just Grey Matter." Also appears that you are taking a proactive approach to your health by using medical procedures creatively.

Ann, love the colors in your quilt and the message of how important our/your imagination is.

At first glance, without your statement, I found the image a bit disturbing. I probably watch too much CSI

welcome to blogging, Ann! It really is fun. We have a ring of art quilters you might want to join...the Artful Quilter Web Ring. If you go to my blog, lizcreates.blogspot.com and find the link on the right side and go to the list you can puruse different art quilters' blogs. You can also get in tough with Diane, our list mom, to see about joining...you do need to post at least four entries about art quilting first, but check it out.

Like your take on your brain...

Thank you all for your comments and encouragement. Creating this quilt was a great way to let go and get back to being creative. I just let my instincts take over and carry me wherever.
Since all the surgeries and recoveries, I just can't watch CSI anymore...I've seen too much first hand to see it on TV.
I've got another piece in the series done, and it is going to Annie Copeland's Indelible Spirit exhibit. Just waiting on permission to publish it here. It's much more subdued than than "Imagination Matters".

Dear Anne,
This is Janine, from the Indelible Spirit group. Your quilts are really beautiful, in color and design and spirit. And what a unique idea. But, what I want to know is, "What does your neurologist think of them?"
Blessed be, Janine
